The Laboratory’s Activities | The Laboratory for Comprehensive Immune Studies

By using the following state-of-the-art techniques, we aim to understand how the spleen helps the body accept transplanted tissues without lifelong drugs, why certain T cells become exhausted or regulatory in transplant tolerance, and how immune studies in nonhuman primates mirror human transplant scenarios. We accomplish this by using:

Mass cytometry for detailed, single-cell snapshots of every immune cell type from a simple blood draw
Multiplex imaging to map immune cells’ locations and interactions in tissues
Computational models to pinpoint early signs of tolerance or rejection
Metabolic profiling of immune cells to reveal pathway changes linked to
successful transplants
